About Aquika

Technology environments grow by accident. We bring order to them.

Aquika is a technology services company based in Illinois. We design, build, and manage the systems businesses run on — and we started the company because too many of those systems had never really been designed at all.

Why we exist

One server becomes five.

Very few businesses set out to build a complicated technology environment. It happens gradually. One server becomes five. One SaaS application becomes twenty. One office becomes three, connected by whatever was easiest at the time. And somewhere along the way, one employee who was "good with computers" becomes the company's entire unofficial IT department.

By the time anyone steps back to look, the business depends on all of it: the network, the servers, the cloud accounts, the phones, the backups, the security tools, the vendors. Each piece was probably a reasonable decision on its own. Together, they're a system nobody fully understands — and that's when technology starts feeling like a liability instead of an advantage.

Aquika exists to fix that. Not by selling a new product to sit on top of the pile, but by understanding how the pieces fit together, designing what should be there, building it properly, documenting it, and running it so the business can stop thinking about it.

How we work

Built around engineering, not sales.

The company is built around real-world technology experience: people who have designed networks, run servers and virtualization, migrated companies to the cloud, built phone systems, deployed backup and security programs, and shipped production AI. Not salespeople who sell technology products and hand the work to someone else.

  • 01

    Understand before recommending

We look at the whole environment and the business it serves before we suggest changing anything.

  • 02

    Design on purpose

Networks, servers, cloud, phones, and backups planned as one system — with the trade-offs explained.

  • 03

Build it and stand behind it

We implement what we recommend, and we're the ones who answer when it needs attention.

  • 04

    Write it down

Documentation, diagrams, and runbooks are deliverables, not afterthoughts. Your environment shouldn't live in one person's head — including ours.

  • 05

    Automate the repetitive

If a task happens more than a few times, it should be scripted, scheduled, and monitored.

  • 06

    Stay independent

We don't take reseller commissions. Recommendations are based on what fits your business.

The process

Listen, assess, design, build, run.

Whether it's a single firewall or a multi-site environment, the order doesn't change. It's how we avoid building things twice.

  1. 01

    Listen

A short conversation about what's going on, what the business is trying to do, and what's getting in the way. We ask more than we talk.

  2. 02

    Assess

We look at the actual environment — network, servers, cloud, phones, backups, vendors — and write down what's there, what's at risk, and what it depends on.

  3. 03

    Design

A written plan with the trade-offs explained in plain language: what should change, in what order, and why. You see it before anything is built.

  4. 04

    Build & document

We implement what we recommended, test it, and hand over diagrams, configurations, and runbooks. The environment shouldn't live in anyone's head.

  5. 05

    Run & improve

Monitoring, maintenance, support, and regular reviews — so the environment stays healthy and small problems don't become emergencies.

From the server room to AI

Modern IT isn't computers → help desk → antivirus anymore.

Businesses now run on layers that depend on each other: compute and storage, the network, security, cloud and communications, automation and AI, and the applications your people actually use. Most providers cover one or two layers. Aquika operates across the entire stack — which is why we can tell you how a firewall change affects your phones, or why a backup design depends on how your storage is laid out.

What we cover

From the server room to AI.

Infrastructure and networking, cybersecurity, cloud, backup and recovery, communications, automation, and AI — and the managed IT that keeps all of it running. We also build our own products when the need is clear: BookLine AI, our AI voice answering platform for service businesses, is one example.

Where we work

Chicago-based. Midwest on site. Remote anywhere.

We're based in the Chicago area and work on site across Chicagoland and the Midwest. Much of what we do — cloud, security, monitoring, phones, automation, and AI — is done remotely, and we support clients across the U.S.

Technologies we work with

Vendor-neutral, and fluent across the stack.

Platforms and tools we deploy and support day to day. These are technologies we know well — not sponsorships, resale badges, or partnerships.
